Rabnawaz of UC MC 1, Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a sole breadwinner of a family of 6, he was earning his living as a daily wager, though that too was not an easy time for him, but the COVID-19 pandemic further exacerbated the situation. Life came to a standstill due to restrictions imposed to curb spread of virus, there were days when Rabnawaz could not find any work to earn his living. Rabnawaz knew that he would be better off if he could establish his own business but he lacked resources to pursue his dream. He found the opportunity when he learnt about the Interest Free Loan Programme- an initiative of the Government of Pakistan to provide a platform to the citizens of Pakistan for uplifting them out of poverty. The Programme is being implemented in 110 districts of Pakistan by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund through its partner organisations who are providing services at loan centres established in programme districts.
Rabnaawaz visited the loan centre established by Akhuwat Foundation close to his village and after completing all the pre-requisites acquired an interest free loan of PKR. 45,000/-. Rabnawaz used the loan amount to set up a grocery store equipped with all kinds of supplies of everyday use. His hardwork and perseverance has borne fruit and Rabnawaz is earning an average monthly profit of Rs. 15,000/- as of now. Rabnawaz has plans to further upscale his store as his profit increases so that he can earn even better and make investments to secure future of his children.
