Dr. Naved Hamid is Professor of Economics at the Lahore School of Economics. He is Member of Economic Advisory Committee. He has a BA (Hons.) in Economics from Cambridge University, UK, and a PhD in Economics from Stanford University, USA. Prior to joining the Lahore School of Economics, he was at the Asian Development Bank where he worked in various capacities, including ‘Acting Chief Economist for South Asia’ and Deputy Country Director and Team Leader for Pakistan. Before joining ADB he was Professor of Economics at the Lahore University of Management Sciences. He served on Board of PPAF. His publications include: ‘Economic Environment in Asia for Investment’, in Investing in Asia, Edited by C. P. Oman, D. H. Brooks and C. Foy, OECD Development Centre, 1997; The chapter on Industry and Trade in Foundations of Pakistan's Political Economy, edited by W. E. James and S. Nabi) in World Development, 1989. He has also published several books: Joint author (with A. Nasim and 1. Nabi) of 'Agrarian Economy of Pakistan' published by Oxford University Press, and co-editor (with P. Rana) of ‘From Centrally Planned to Market Economies: The Asian Approach’ (3 Volumes), also published by Oxford University Press. He was elected Board Member of PPAF on January 25, 2019 for a period of three years.
Mrs. Khawar Mumtaz did M.A. International Relations with First Position and Diploma in French Language with First Division. Currently she is Chairperson, National Commission on the Status of Women, Government of Pakistan. Previously she was CEO Shirkat Gah, A leading women’s rights and development organization. Among numerous Trainings, lectures, Publications, Reports, National/ International experience she received Prime Minister’s award for co-authoring book ‘Women pf Pakistan; Two Steps Forward One step Back?’ 1989. She also received Sitara-e-Imtiaz for social service and promotion of women’s rights. Ms. Khawar was nominated for Nobel Peace Prize in 2005. Mrs. Mumtaz brings almost 30 years of experience of working on women’s rights and development issues. She brings a multi-sectoral approach to women’s issues with specific expertise in the areas of women and development; women’s political participation, poverty and environment, women’s reproductive health and rights. Her works spans from capacity building of grassroots organizations, to research, analysis and advocacy with policy makers on the basis of her research and grassroots engagements. She was elected Board Member of PPAF on January 25, 2019 for a period of three years.
