Chinese Delegation Visits PPAF Office to Discuss Opportunities for Mutual Cooperation

A ten member Chinese delegation together with Deputy Director - CPEC, Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform - Pakistan visited PPAF today. The members of the delegation included: Mr. Du Zhenli, Director General, CIECC & Professor Senior Engineer; Mr. Li Guodong, Deputy Director from CIDCA; Mr. Zhang Zhizhong, First Secretary, The Department of Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China; Mr. Zhao Kai, Focal person from CIDCA; Mr. Zhou Lei, Engineer, CIECC; Mr. Wang Haimin, Associate Professor, China Agricultural University; Mr. Li Jun, Associate Research Scientist, Oil Corps Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Mr. Liu Bochao, Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban); Mr. Zhang Xiaoxiang, Director, Computer Center, Tongji Hospital and Mr. Li Wenqing, Chinese Embassy.

The delegation aimed to learn from PPAF’s countrywide work on poverty alleviation and community driven socio-economic transformation and to look into the possibility of linking PPAF’s work with CPEC in Pakistan and with Chinese Poverty Alleviation Programme across China. From PPAF, Samia Liaquat Ali Khan, Sr. Group Head - Quality Assurance, Research & Development and Ms. Simi Kamal, Sr. Group Head - Grants Operations received the delegation. Ms. Liaquat Ali Khan apprised them about PPAF and its outreach across Pakistan to support communities to access improved infrastructure, energy, health, education, livelihoods and interest free loans. Further, Ms. Kamal presented PPAF’s current portfolio, comprising of various donor funded grants programmes. The major part of the discussions revolved around PPAF’s poverty alleviation strategy, institutional set up, governance and structure, its outreach from district to village and settlement levels across all four provinces, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The delegation highly appreciated PPAF’s contribution in the socio-economic uplift of deprived regions and marginalized communities across Pakistan and looked forward to collaborating with PPAF under CPEC’s socio economic working group.
